energy:landscapes are all around us—sprawling, intricate, some invisible, others eye-catching. Like rivers or forests, they shape the terrain, yet we rarely see them for what they are. This project invites you to look again—to notice, to wonder, and to recognize beauty in the systems that power our lives.
energy:landscapes is a photographic exploration of the vast and varied infrastructures that make up our energy systems—from towering transmission lines and humming substations to smart meters, wind farms, hydro dams, and energy wood plantations. Just as natural landscapes vary in scale and texture—from a pebble to a mountain range—so too do energy landscapes. They are complex and diverse: a networked organism stretching across time and space, embedded in both our cities and rural environments.
These images ask you to slow down and see what’s usually ignored—not only to criticize, but to cultivate awareness, curiosity, and care. The first step to shaping the future is to see the present.
Ultimately, energy:landscapes aims to empower viewers: to reveal the human hand and imagination behind energy systems, and to show that we all have a stake in how they evolve.
